Hey,
I love taking photographs and am looking to step up to the next level. I am wondering what would be a good starter dslr camera. My main goal is to have the ability to take pictures in low light such as this one: Milky Way Over Crater Lake - Traveler Photo Contest 2011 - National Geographic Any suggestions? Thanks!! |

Thats just silly. Budget is a factor, btu there are other things that are considerably more important
OP: The image you linked to can be done on any camera.

Maybe not ANY camera, given the wide angle of the lens. But agree; that's more about being somewhere non-light-polluted and having a tripod than it is about the camera. You could get a similar shot with a P&S camera and stacking.
