Default Advice on a new camera

I'm writing this in order to get your opinion about high-end compact digital cameras.

My idea is to complement my DSLR with a compact camera. I have seen the Canon G11 and I really liked it but I know that there are some other options of similar cameras (i.e. Nikon P7000).

What do you think of those cameras?
Which one would you recommed?

I'm eager to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

Canon G12, Canon S95, Olympux XZ-1, and Panasonic LX5 might also be worth considering.I like the Gs, but they're a bit big to be pocketable, and pocketable made more difference than I thoughf in terms of a take-everywhere camera. My G9 tends to sit on a shelf, while my S90 is my grab camera.

the xz-1 has excellent lens specs - Part of me wants to trade my ep-1 for one...

Default G's S's etc.

The G12 is the best camera I know all in all.
The XZ-1, S95 and LX5 have better low light support than the G12,
but it has the better ergonomics and handling than any of them.
The G11 is a fine alternative, if you can't afford the G12.

For compactness - the S95 is great.

If you care much about video as well as stills, consider the LX5 or XZ-1.

I finally got a Canon G12 to use an everyday camera.
I take it with me almost all the time, so I don't miss photo opportunities.

I'm still getting hold of it, but you can see some of my pictures with thise camera on mi Flickr stream.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I really like the camera!

Congrats! And don't forget to go Strobist with it. I love popping a radio transmitter or ST-E2 on the top of my G9...
