Hello all – I’m looking for some advice on which models and makes to look at. I own for just a short while a Canon XSI. I just had to get the shutter assembly replaced with under 800 exposures and 1 1/2 years old. I’m hoping I just got a lemon and this isn’t a pattern with canon.
The reason i want to upgrade is because I want an SLR which also shoots video. Mainly so i don't have to carry two cameras. im trying to keep my budget under 1000.00. I have only used canon and didn’t have a great experience. im not counting them out as im looking at the T2i and the T3. Any thoughts and opinions would be helpful. Thanks |

T2i bodies are going to be discounted heavily with the T3i on the shelves: scoop one up if you can, then sell the Xsi.

To me, the only big advantages the T3i give you over the T2i are the flash master in the pop-up and the flip-out LCD. Depending on what kind of video work you want to do, the flip-out LCD could come in handy (say, being able to review videos of yourself with the camera on a tripod). If you don't need those two features, then the T2i will do just fine.
