Default Help! Camera left in hot car

I left my camera (completely by accident) in my car for a few days in the heat. When I realized I took it out and it took 1 picture, but then after that it wont take any pictures and the screen comes out black with streaky colors sometimes. When a camera is in the heat what can it damage and is it possible for it to start working again once the camera completely cools down???

Thanks in advance!

As always it's impossible to say. Certainly if it was left in direct sunlight the LCD screen could have got fried but most electronics are pretty robust around the sort of heat you'd see in a car. But robust is not unbreakable so the proof's in the pudding. Try it when it's cooled down and see.

Eeek. that stinks. I can't really answer your question, but I can tell you that summer before last, it was really hot, over 100 degrees for a few days and that heat totally fried our dvd player in the car. I mean, it wouldn't even turn on. So I know for sure that prolonged heat can damage certain electronics. However, I really hope that you camera can recover.

Have you checked the obvious yet?
Perhaps it is in manual mode and the pictures are only just severely underexposed...

Just cover all the painfully obvious stuff before you panic. Then, if it is a real problem, you can panic.

Best of luck!

You could have cooked the liquid in the LCD screen.
