Just a quick update. Since this morning, I took the risk and bought the lens. Had a chance to test it on my camera. For what it is worth to anyone - no conflict in mounting. Manual focus was very smooth. Can only be used in manual mode - thats ok. I appreciated the feedback and it helped with my decision making. Give me a couple of weeks and maybe I will post a picture using this lens

I had my camera set for spot and that worked. I am pretty sure matrix wont but center will. Was time crunched at lunch. My test shots were hand held LOL which were not the best but it gave me enough information to know this was worth $100. The glass is in mint condition. Cannot wait for the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For an extra $50 I got a heavy duty manfrotto tri pod with ball mount. Thought that was a pretty good deal as well. Thanks again

Uh.... AFAIK, the D3000 doesn't meter with non-CPU lenses. Does your adapter have a chip on it? I'd say, learn to use the histogram on the LCD.
BTW, Jiim's a pro sports shooter, so autofocus is going to be more important to him than to a hobbyist shooter who likes getting shots of pretty flowers. ![]() ![]() Canon 5dii, adapted Leica-R Elmarit 135mm f/2.8. iso 100, f/2.8, 1/1000s. Welcome to the land of manual glass. It's FUN here. Basically, you can use any lens in Nikon F mount, so long as it's AI or newer. (pre-AI lenses can be used on a D3000, but if you upgrade to D90 or D7000, later, it could break the camera). Adaptall is one of those funky special mounts that can be adapted for most other camera mounts. However, lenses from any other mount system are going to require an adapter with a glass element so you can retain focus to infinity; or you can replace the lens mount with a Leitax kit if it's Leica-R, Olympus OM, or Contax/Yashica and on their list. So, as Luke says, you always want to determine the mount of a lens first.

LOL I have sooooooooo much more to learn.... Now I am confused. Again, beginner thinking here. I am barely understanding the new lenses now I am venturing into another world. Thanks for the info! Very valuable info regarding an upgrade in the future. Love your photo. I think I am going to enjoy this lens very much. Will post a picture to this thread in a couple of days. Thanks again for your advice. Greatly appreciated.
Carolyn
