Ok - some background.
So I was an avid film photographer years ago. High school, college... developed own images and spent all my part time job $ on camera gear and developer. I took photos for several local papers and for events. Fast forward 15 years. I quit my big corporate job to stay at home with my 1 year old and have caught the photo bug. I knew I would get back there some day. I want a solid DSLR and lens. Eventually I would like this to be my back-up for a full frame down the line. I have been looking at the Canon 60D or the X2i. Lens wise the Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 or the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 as a starter. Anyone have some helpful advice? Is there a better choice for me? I am going to be learning it all over again - but using the camera in manual is important for me. That is one reason I have been looking at the 60D - the controls/menus are a little easier. Thanks |

Why do you want full frame down the road?

While I can appreciate being more comfortable with the controls on one body over another, if you're trying to keep within a budget it's better to spend money on glass than the body. If you aren't worried about the budget, then just get whatever you like that best.
