Default DSLR Selection

I would like to enter the world of DSLR. In hand I have 700 $ and decided to go ahead with Nikon D3100. Have i made the right decision?
Else plz suggest a better camera at this budget ....

I have one also and I love it. everyone has said it is a great beginner camera.

Thanks for ur valuable advise... can u plz advise me on lens too... should i now purchase any additional lenses apart from the 18-55 mm lens which i get free along with the camera.

I am a beginner and dont hav much idea plz help me out....

Just stick with the basic kit until you understand better how to use the camera. Buying additional lenses now is sort of risky because you don't know what you need.

If you can round up another $200 you might want to look at the D5100

Is it better than the D3100? From the reading I did prior to deciding "better" is a pretty subjective thing. I'd suggest you actually handle both, see which one feels better etc. Which ever way you decide you'll have something decent - neither are bad cameras.

Im in a chaos ....
Nikon D3100, Nikon D5100,Canon 500d, Canon 550D
All in front of me..... but im not able to choose....
