Default P&S with good video and tripod mount

I am going on a trip to deals gap/tail of the dragon, ofc course my D40 and 18-105 will be coming along, as will my friend new (thanks to me) d3100 55-200mm combo... what I NEED is a cheap P&S that will take decent video and share the same memory card, i have built a in car mount and i wanna take some video, but truth be told i wont use the P&S much other than for in car video.... thoughts?

Any specific reason you want a P&S instead of a Flip?

Second what Inkista is saying: a small dedicated video device is likely a better choice.

You could always use one of the GoProHD cams too: They come with their own mount, and are shock/water proof. Theyre great for hood-mounted shot.

(Deals Gap is a WONDERFUL drive, btw)

Cost.... im assuming i can find a P&S for like 50-100, go pro is 300 IIRC and Flip is 130+ I was hoping to find a deal for under 100 and then donate it to my wife to replace her P&S when she does not wanna lug the D40 around. then again the flip would be a decent long term investment at 130, im not very familiar ith them, they hanlde 720p at least yes? Its only a few bucks more and wit hthe kid getting more and more active it might prove a solid investment...

P&S cameras in the 50-100 range dont offer very good video. That's the rub.

The Flips both do 720p, and both do 60fps as well.

My guess would be yes. See: GorillaPod Video - pocket camcorder tripod with pan and tilt and omni directional positioning video head.
