Question What Camera?????

Hi, I recently got into photograhy and have a Canon sx120is, quickly found it wasn't the camera i needed for what i wanted to do so i'd like to use all of your experience to find the camera i need (without breaking the bank, used or new £200 - £400). I'm ready for DSLR.
I need it to take pics and video of my son playing football, macro images of insects, wildlife shots of subjects i cant always get close to, and time laps photograpy of plants. images in low / changing light situations ie: concerts.
I want something i can build on adding lenses when i can afford them.
All suggestions very welcome, i know the budget aint great so used is probably the way to go.
Thanks in advance

ouch.. an SLR with lenses to take video, fast flashless high ISO concerts, sports and macro all for 400GBP.. good luck.
I think you need to adjust your expectations. Even if you can find a new/used body with a kit lens for 400, you'll not be able to buy the macro for the insects, the long fast lens for sports/wildlife/concert..

Any of the entry level cameras with video from the big makers (as that's all you can afford with this budge) will fit the bill until you can buy the appropriate lenses.

Question

Thanks "BigFuzzy", I'm not to bothered about the big lenses at the moment, what i want is a body that will do this then help on selecting the correct lenses to fullfil expectations as and when i can afford them.
Is there any Canon camera that will do this with interchangable lenses as i'm comfortable with the Canon lay out, or should I be looking at something else?

As I noted, every single entry level body by the majors out there (including but not limited to Canon, Nikon, Sony) will be able to do what you want, it's the lenses that's most important because what you're wanting is fast lenses. All of the bodies will be able to handle your needs. The only issue you may want to look into is the difference between frames-per-second. For example the entry level canons typically have around 3.5fps whereas the higher up 20/30/40/50/60d series all have around 6fps which is relevant to the sports and wildlife photography (and maybe concert?)
So keep that in mind, you may be able to find good deals on used 40ds out there as it's quite a good camera. I had a 20d for a while before I moved up to a 5d and loved it (though i didn't need the fps as I don't do lots of sports/wildlife).

Who knows, you may be able to get away with some of the entry level Nikons that have higher ISO settings than some of the Canons.. well, at least i think they do, i don't know Nikon at all.

Nikon's D3100 does surprisingly well in low light. I took it to several show / concert venues on our Disney vacation.
