I need help.
My mother-in-law (80 yrs +) is finally ready to give up her film based point and shoot and has tasked me with finding her a digital for around $100 - $150. No video, or complicated buttons or menus. Just something easy to carry, hold, and use to take snapshots on trips with the senior's group. Easy right? I though about a Lumix (?) but that is a budget buster and might be a little complicated for her. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks Amgeek |

What's your budget?
Have you looked at the Kodak Easyshare cameras? That's the one that I got my mom if I remember correctly. Just remember to tell her that she has to delete the images on her memory card after she moves them to her computer or after she prints them. My mom told me she was running out of room on her camera. I wasn't sure how because I got her a fairly large memory card. I found out she wasn't deleting the images or reformating the card. She equated the memory card to film for some reason. Completely understandable coming from her generation. http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsu...oryID.28887600

Yep, Kodak Easyshare would have my vote too. My mother (early 70's) has had one for a few years and I had one a couple of years ago too. Nice and easy to use. One thing I have noticed with the cheaper end cameras is that they tend to need AA batteries rather than their own rechargeable one, something to consider if she is using it a lot. Also consider the size of the buttons on the back - how is her eyesight? If she is taking photos of other people at senior club consider something that has face detection (most of them do). Most importantly something with easy to use zoom buttons and a good auto setting.
