hi,
I am new to photography world and dont know much about the cameras. My experience with the cameras is also limited as i have only used a sony handycame HDR-SR11, which though is a fantastic handycame for videos (and not bad either for stills) but it really isnt made for still photography. I like shooting various things ranging from sports to landscapes and i really enjoyed the videos that i have captured using this handycam. however, i have recently seen the results from Canon 550D and am really impressed with the affects that one can bring using DSLR. hence, i started exploring it more and now facing the dilemma: i have been told that i can get a lens for my handycam to enable me shoot like Canon 550D (or closer) but am not sure if that is true. would really appreciate any feedback on this...am naturally tempted to this under the assuming that buying a lens would be cheaper to buying a new Canon 550D? thanks |

Using a dSLR for video is a rather laborious affair if youre just shooting the kids or things like that. it takes effort and technique to get good video from a dSLR. It's excellent quality, but the actual moving images you get from it can range very drastically if youre not miuch good at handling.

[QUOTE=shoot like a Canon 550D" in what sense?[/QUOTE]
sorry i should have clarified it, i was more concerned with the picture quality (in stills) because the handycam is not very good with low light situations, and i am a bit concerned about how to fix it? will appreciate any advise!!! |

There's nothing wrong with getting an SLR and keeping the handycam.
