Default Canon, Nikon lenses attached to MF digital backs?

I am just wondering whether if it is possible to use Canon, Nikon (35mm) lenses attached to MF digital backs?

Possibly, though it'll depend on how you've got it set up and which back.

You're constantly here asking about MF stuff: Try the guys at Photo.net.

There are assorted around, the two difficulties you'll have are as follows

If the 35mm format lenses are positioned to give you coverage of the full back you'll lose infinity focus and depending on the lens may only be able to focus very closely.

If you position the lens at correct distance you'll lose full coverage and effectively be getting a circular frame with heavy vignetting. Think of using a dx lens on fx or more accurately a micro four thirds lens on full frame

Some lenses can handle this, namely the canon and nikkor tilt shift lenses. but if you are investing that much just get native format lenses. The amount of issue also depends on what size back to use with, of course you'll also be stuck with manual operation and hit diffraction issues at low apertures, and the lens corners will really be tested.
