Default 2 camera bodies...1 question

Recently my house was broken into and my Nikon D90 and lens were all stolen so I am at square one replacing my camera equipment. I wanted to be open to all camera in searching for the right one to replace and no I have a question.

I have my search narrowed down to a Canon 7d and a Nikon d7000. My question is which one of those is a better made camera -- I mean which one is sturdier and will be a better built camera? I don't care about all the specs, etc...they are so close that is is not a point but I am looking for the one that is sturdy and well built.

Anyone have any thoughts on that? or other advice to help me chose which one to buy?

Mostly I shoot concert photography, nature, etc....

The 7D.

Now that we have that out of the way hehe.

Why are you thinking of switching over to Canon? I know that your gear was stolen but why would you switch to Canon when you're used to Nikon? I'm not trying to tell you not to get Canon. I'm just curious because people usually stick to the brand they know. I'm a Canon user by the way.

old wolf -

I know a lot of people who shoot canon and love it. I just wanted to be open to the best camera for me...I just do not want to do something because it is what I have done in the past.

Gotcha.

Look at the feature sets. Which is more important to you? Concert photography or nature photography? If it's concert photography then which camera has the best low light performance? If it's nature then I think both will be fine.

I'd go to a store to try both of them out as far as holding them in your hands and feeling where the buttons are. One might be best for what you want it to do that doesn't mean it will be comfortable in your hands.

I would base your decision on the feel of the cameras - it will take some time to get used to canon ergonomics coming from nikon, i think.

D7000 doubles in standard ISO (6400) but whether or not shooting even half that produces exposure worth sharing remains to be seen. I’m hopeful and based on high
ISO capabilities from the D90 and D300s, I think it will be. Delivering on this feature alone could really make a difference when deciding cameras.
