Would like to get my wife a point and shoot camera for Christmas...she doesn't like using my DSLR and to be honest I would rather she didn't...lol.
Problem is, it's been quite a while since I've had a point and shoot and I don't know what's out there now. Just wondering if anyone can recommend something? Not looking for anything too expensive, just something she can use to snap shots of the kids playing in the living room with the new puppy kind of thing...something that would work well indoors. I bought a Sony Cyber-Shot W370 the other day, mainly because I thought the panorama feature would be pretty cool. But I tried it out last night and honestly I don't like the camera at all. It was very slow to focus, slow to take the actual picture, which gave me a hard time getting any pictures that weren't blurry and I know my wife won't be able to....and it doesn't focus when zooming in while shooting video. For the less than 5 minutes I tried it out I was very disappointed with it and couldn't wait to put it away...and I know my wife won't like it either. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a different one I could go and look at? Again, nothing too expensive and it doesn't have to have a whole bunch of options but it needs to be fairly quick to focus and shoot as I know my wife and if there is much of a lag and she has to struggle to get decent shots of the kids she will not use it. Thanks for the help! Last edited by evader; 12-09-2010 at 02:31 PM. |

Canon SD4000IS, maybe? the S95 is a terrific little camera, and the SD4000 looks like a lower-end version of it (same lens and processor, smaller sensor, fewer manual controls).
dpreview is probably the site to hit to compare specs on cameras. I'd also look at whatever the Panasonic equivalent is, and the Fujifilm F300EXR.
