Hi
i am looking to buy a digital camera but cannot decide what camera brand or model to look for. I am looking for a compact camera under 150 or under 200 dollars with good image quality and features (). pls recommend me some camera models that are the best for the above price tag. Amer741. |

What are "good features"? Be more specific.

It's hard to recommend a camera if you don't say what you're looking for in a camera.
I can guess, but chances are my guess will not be accurate. I'll suggest a compact camera with a wide angle lens, a large zoom range, good over all image quality and all the latest features for $200. If that sounds right to you, check out Sony's H55 and Panasonic's ZS5.

my emphases is on a camera with good image quality, that is no grainy or blur images, plus image stabalization that is important feature, Face detection, Red Eye reduction, camera should have good performance under sunlight there is problem with some cameras that give out light glair on images when taken in strong light. i have few cameras in mind like Canon SD1400, Canon SD1300, Samsung ST550, Samsung ST600, Samsung ST5500 which is better choice amongst those cameras in terms of image quality and video quality. I have read about St550 that when you move the camera the picture gets blurry. And no option to remove that. pls reply me with the suggestion.

Grain and blurred images are possible on any camera. Grain is especially hard to deal with on P&S cameras, so you're pretty much outta luck there. Blur depends on the user and, while image stabilization does help, it's never going to be perfect right out the box. Face Detection and Red eye reduction are standard across the board. THe models you've mentioned are lower end and while decent, will not give you the lower grain youre asking for. Of those I dont remember if any have HD video either. If you move the camera, any camera, your photos are going to be blurry, and no, there's no way to get rid of it. But it's also not exclusive to that camera: it's an issue with physics. If you really want a suggestion, the Canon S90 or S95.

Yeah, Osmosis has it right.
I think that what you really need is a decent camera (the S95 is nice, I agree), and lots of experience using it. I get the feeling that you're asking the camera to do things which are your responsibility -- such as understanding how motion blur and camera shake affect your image. You need to use a camera a lot, until you understand what is your responsibility, and what can be done by the camera.
