Hello,
I have a Minolta Maxxum film camera for which I had purchased zoom lens and wide angle lenses (will have to lookup the details for the lens). But basic question is can I use these lenses on any new digital camera? I would hate to waste those lenses and put in more money to buy new ones. thank you very much. |

For reference, you can look up your lenses on Dyxum.com. I have Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 myself. Regards |

Thank you for the very quick reply.
I am not very knowledgeable with photography, but want to learn. I am considering buying a DSLR. So let me try to understand your response 1. I gather that it is possible to use the film camera lenses on DSLR cameras. 2. I just have to check with the specific camera to make sure it works with that one. Here are the details of my camera and lenses - Camera - Minolta Maxxum 500si. (this is not a Digital camera, it is an old film camera, still in good shape, only problem is getting the films processed is getting harder - so want to switch to digital). Since spent quite a tidy sum on the lenses, I figured, maybe try to salvage them atleast while buying a new body (with digital SLR technology). the lenses - 1. Quantarray - 52mm UV wideangle lens - 1:2.8, f=24mm 2. Minolta AF70-210, lens - 1:45(22)-5.6 3 Minolta AF 35-70, 1:35(22)-4.5 if all these lenses can fit on any one camera, I am willing to spend a little bit (but not in the thousands) to get a new camera. thank you very much. |

Your Maxxum uses the same Minolta-AF mount that the Sony Alphas do. So, your lenses will mount and should work on any of the Sony Alpha bodies.
