Question Tough/Rugged Camera

At my job we need a tough/rugged camera that can withstand being dropped, maybe in water, and general rough handling. It must have a time/date stamp on the image when it is downloaded from the camera. We bought the Olympus Stylus 8010 but the time/date is only in the EXIF data and not on the image when downloaded. The people using these cameras are very limited in their technical knowledge and ability so it needs to be simple point and shoot and easy to download the images off the camera.

Does anyone know of a camera that would fit our needs? Or a very very simple/easy way to get the time/date stamp on the image using the cameras we have?

TIA
Stacy

Read the manual that came with the camera, you'll find instructions in setup on how to include the date/time stamp on images.

They don't design cameras to be dropped, especially in water. They're a fragile electronic instrument. Of course you could buy an underwater camera or casing for the one you have, however I'd still strongly recommend against dropping it.

According to Olympus, you can't have the date/time stamp on images with this camera. It is only in the EXIF. We can use a third party program to add it but like I said, the people that will be using these cameras everyday are not that technical.

These cameras are designed to go under water and can be dropped from several feet with no damage. That's why they are called rugged. I know that most cameras out there are not designed this way. That's why I'm asking if anyone knows of a rugged/tough camera that does have the time/date stamp.

To add to the above, I carry a Pentax WS80 with me almost any time I'm out in the woods, usually standing in the middle of a stream fishing. I've been fairly pleased with it in terms of ease of use, image quality, and durability. A few months back, I lost it in the current of a small stream (slipped the wrist strap right off my hand), and it bumped against a few rocks as it sunk and drifted downstream. I grabbed it again quickly and it was no worse for the wear.
