A Pentax K-X with a smc-a 28mm f/2.8, set of extension tubes and a reverse ring.

You'll have yourself the best entry level APS-C cameras. A fantastic old manual-focus wide-angle lens, an extension tubes set for adjusting your framing for macros and a reverse ring for for using with the extension tubes for super macro ability.

I think you should go to a well equiped store, Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, Etc. Look at what is avaialble, pick up each camera, play a bit. Then go home and read reviews and think on it for a day or two. Then ask on here if you want to narrow down the choices.

just go play with them...
a lot of people here will say go for the canon, another big group will say go for the nikon, and same with the pentax. just go to the store and see which you like best, because they all have the ability to produce really good results, and the minor differences from brand to brand won't matter
