Cant decide ! Can u help? I want to invest in a ipad for showing off pics to clients, and also to use it during a shoot.Does anyone know , if any of you photographers are lucky- enough to own one, know if you can plug your camara in, to view your images that youve taken? As this is what I can do with while shooting in the field.I do alot of food pics and interiors... Please help. I wonder if they will develop photoshop for the ipad , this would be a photographers dream. Then i expect it wouldnt be a ipad but a computer like all the rest.Id appreciate a photographers view on one and if he/she thinks its a well worth tool for the job please ta -" waterboy "...[FONT="Georgia" |

Having the edited photo on iPad & showing it "off" to the client might be impressive for the client... but its not functional for you, if you want to connect your camera to the iPad & show them the photos you just shot! It will work if you take the SD card out n put it on iPad, but then you will have to shot in JPG (donno any app that supports RAW)
If you are window's fan, I would go with tablet laptop as this one, it can be iPadish to show off you work to the client & can be as functional as a PC..

Here's a glowing review from an old-school photographer:

I think for now, using the iPad to display a portfolio is a doable good thing. But using it for actual photo processing workflow right now is not wholly doable. There is a camera connector, which essentially adds a USB port to the iPad (which is why even non-photographers are jumping on it), but there aren't really any iOS apps that do heavy-duty RAW processing right now. Also, keep in mind, the iPad's processor architecture is ARM.

I'd seriously consider a MacBook Air before an Ipad. To me the Ipad is just too many compromises...Too big to really be any more portable than the Air, and way more limited in capability.
Maybe a netbook if you are looking for cheap...

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't use it to replace a computer. You'd still have to have another system for processing. But it seems like it'd be pretty good for the "showing off pics to clients, and also to use it during a shoot" part.

So, I've got an iPad... it's.... fun.... I've used it about 4 times, my wife uses it to play a game she likes, If I had to buy it (I won it) I wouldn't have...
