Default Camera recommendation

Hi - looking for a camera to get high res shots of our product that I can use for press releases, editorial shots etc. Dont really want SLR. And not spend too much money.
Currently have Canon Ixus860 but want to upgrade. Maybe Canon G10?
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance

Is cost the main reason you don't want a DSLR? Entry level DSLRs like the Nikon D3000 or similar Canons are very much the same in terms of cost as the G10, and will give better image quality, flexibility and future-proofing.

Product shots are more than jsut the camera. Lighting is much more of a factor. If you only need some shots for press use, you may be better off contracting it out to a product photographer with the equipment and know-how.

The entry level Canon is the EOS 1000D I think. I use a Nikon, entry level is D3000. Both are very similar, the best thing to do if you can is to visit a photographic shop and try a couple out. Personally I preferred the feel of the Nikons.

As Osmosis says, lighting is also an important factor in taking product shots. Ideally you need some kind of light tent and an off-camera light or two. You can improvise and make your own - DIYPhotography.net has some great articles.
