Default Purchasing Online

I'm looking to purchase my first DSLR camera, and I've found a couple of online retailers that I'm considering. One is "Camera Kings" out of Brooklyn New York, and the other is "Butterfly Photo" in New Jersey. Has anyone had any dealings with either of these vendors, and if so, how was your experience?

No, but if the deallooks to good compared to Amazon, BH Photo or Adorama.... be careful

Those 3 are as safe as houses, even for international buyers like me

Most of the ones in Brooklyn are scams. They take your order and you never get anything, when you question them they tell you it is backordered and upsell you. Don't waste your time, if it looks to good it usually is.

Yeah, just punched in Camera Kings into Google search, and the second suggested search was about scams. After reading other folks' experiences with them, I won't even bother. Butterfly Photo has mixed reviews so far, but I might forget them too.

Always throw a retailer into ResellerRatings.com. It'll get you a pretty good idea of how businesses work.

That was one of the main sites that popped up with all the negative marks. I've since checked a few other sites, and have ordered my first DSLR from Abe's of Maine. I've seen several good remarks about them on other forums, and they have a 9.25/10 mark at ResellerRatings.com, and similar scores at other rating sites, so I shouldn't have too much trouble with them.

Abe's of Maine ROCKS! I placed my order for a black Pentax K-X on Sunday night. It came in the mail today, and it is just as described on their site. They will get more of my business in the future!
