Default First DSLR

I know there are a ton of these threads, so I will add one more to the list. I went and checked out the K-X last night, and while I was there, I checked out the other brands as well. I liked how the K-X felt until I picked up the Olympus E-620. I have read that the K-X is really good in low light and has the video feature (wife says how often would we shoot video's though)

Should you base a purchase on how the camera feels in your hands? I am still reading about the E-620 since it really wasn't on my radar until last night. This would be my first one, so would I even know the difference in my shots? Are those two cameras comparable in other features and in the glass that is offered?

I am looking to use it for travel, taking, wild life shots, sports etc. This will be more for hobby than professional. I do know that the E-620 does offer underwater housings for it, which may be a interest in the distant future.

"feel" is very important.. that was one of my main drivers in my decision to stay away fron canon.. its just uncomfortable for me.

The K-X as a brilliant sensor.. and IMHO thats the most important factor in a DSLR decision.
(it has the same sensor as the Nikon D90 and D300)....very well known for being excellent in low light

The K-X is amazing. I just got mine on Wednesday, and I'm having a blast with it already. The low light capabilities are phenomenal. Shot this hand held, under lamp light using an old Tamron lens from an old film body:

Old School

Camera PENTAX K-x
Exposure 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture f/2.8
Focal Length 35 mm
Focal Length 70.0 mm
ISO Speed 3200
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

No flash, ISO 3200 (could have gone to 6400). As for an underwater housing, I found this post via Google with links to some suggestions:
