I have Canon 500D and using it from last 7 months and i am quiet happy with the performance. While i am on holiday with my friends i had opportunity to handle Nikon D3000 and i am amazed with its performance, though on paper its feature is behind Canon 500D. So i am thinking to change my DSLR to Nikon and shortlisted D90. I have seen good reviews about D90. But at that time canon 50D is also a good choice. So i am confused between these two models. I have T1i kit lens and 55-250 IS which can be used with 50D. However my major concern is image quality and after surfing I found D90 has edge over 50D and 500D. Nikon D90 has good viewfinder and good focusing speed.
Guys before investing more in Canon lenses, is it a wise decision to switch to Nikon. Please help me to choose good for me. |

One small question before you go making a system switch: what lens were you using on the D3000?
![]() With the 18-55/55-250 twin lens kit, you haven't even started to plumb the depths of what your T1i can do.

What do you mean by "performance"? Image quality? Responsiveness? Focus speed? Or did you just prefer the way it handles?

What are your reasons for looking into a different camera? What does your camera do or not do now that a new one will?
What are your reasons for looking to switch systems to Nikon? What will that system do for you that Canon doesn't do now?

Quote:
Both cameras should be able to produce "vibrant colors", and noise should be comparable. (The Nikon D5000 or Pentax K-x would be somewhat better for noise.) Automatic white balance is a weakness for Canon (even their high-end cameras!), but the D3000 isn't amazing there either.

You're threadjacking here (this should be it's own topic), but I'll bite: The D90 is rumoured to be replaced this september/october at the Photokina show. There are countless rumors as to what it could be, but most are hinting at modest changes.

You want bad speculation? or good speculation? Because for the latter, I'd recommend reading Thom Hogan's musings (scroll on down to the June 25 entry, "Designing the D90 Replacement"). For the former, you can always hit 1001 Noisy Cameras or the dpreview boards for the wild-speculation/wishful-thinking variety of fake specs.
