Canon or Nikon

Hello,

I'm in the market for a new camera, upgrading from a Canon Digital Rebel XT with only one lens. I have been comparing the Canon 7D and the Nikon D300S, both of which are around $1699 and shoot 8 frames per second. The Canon has 18 megapixels and the Nikon only has 12.3 megapixels. Other than that, the only major difference is that the Nikon is about .4 pounds heavier.

I mostly shoot sports and event photography such as bar/bat mitzvahs, outdoor parties, league photos, etc.

So which camera is best, in your opinion?

They are both equally good cameras and either will do a fine job for you. If you have the opportunity to test each one, then do that and see which feels better to you. You need to also look at the investement in the glass.
