after becoming disgusted w/ the over all performance of the nikon l110 i have decided it is going back to the store. i need some recommendations for the best overall cam under 250 dollars. i am looking for manual controls and the best bang for the buck. so far i have established the kodak z915 may be the best bet but i wanted some input from you guys. you all havent let me down yet! so what should i look into?

The Kodak may be a great place to start. I had a Kodak P850, 5.1 mp, that was a great camera. I currently have a ZD8612IS that I carry around in the car all the time. No, they aren't professional cameras, but for a start, I think they work great. Coupled with the Kodak software, they are also a breeze to download and do minor tweaks. Its important to find one that you're comfortable with.

yea...kodak is a great choice. my first bridge was the z710. i am hoping to find another pre-pro camera that will live up to that one. my budget is 250 and i have studied on the fuji s1800, and the kodak. i have also pondered believe it or not, the new GE x5 14mp superzoom. it just came out and i have no clue about the quality of GE's cameras but they cant be any worse than some of the higher priced brand names i have tried..........

I'm not sure you're set on a lot of zoom or not, but you should look at the Panasonic DMC-ZS5, its got almost as much zoom as the L110 (12x vs 15x), but is much smaller. The ZS5 also has a wider angle lens (25mm vs 28mm).
The Casio EX-FH20 also looks really good, with 20x zoom, shoots RAW (great for white balance and exposure correction), a f/2.8 lens. |

Try the Sony Cybershot DSC H55. 25mm, 10x opitical zoom, 14 mp, with HD and Panorama features. Got it to replace my kodak 5mp. I have an upload (dreamlike) somewhere in the forum. Cost $240, sells for $199 now.
