Smile Confused!!!

Can anyone advice me as I am going for a New DSLR, which one to buy and why? I've to decide upon Nikon D3000, Canon 1000D/Rebel XS, Canon 450D. Any suggestions are welcome. I know a bit about all of the above Cams. I would be generally using the system for Macro shots, Landscape Shots and Cloud Photography.

I would recommend the 450D if not then the 1000D.

A first DSLR is an important decision, as it sort of sets the system you will likely follow in the future. In the digital world it is sort of a leapfrog of feature as each company releases bodies with new features. My suggestion is to look at the systems avaliable and see which seems to fit your anticipated needs. Another consideration is what do those around you use. This is helpful when one needs help or wants to borrow something.

After all that pick the camera body that seems to feel best for you.

IMHO over a period of time neither system is better than the other.

They are all great cameras and will take great photo's for you. There's no significant difference between the brands in terms of image quality or reliabilty. Probably the most important factor is going to be the ergonomics. How the buttons and menus are laid out and how they feel in your hands.

Go to a store and have a play with each. One will feel right in your hands - choose that system.

This is generally good advice, although I think you really have to use a camera for at least a week before you get a good impression of its feel. Looking for love at first sight isn't necessarily the best way to judge.

The other thing to consider is the lens lineup available. This is why I am in the Pentax system -- I love the compact, jewel-like Limited prime series. But if I was looking for a great 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom for sports, not the best choice.
