Question Canon 1000D vs 450D

I'm willing to purchase an entry level D-SLR camera ASAP. I'm a beginner with not much experience in photography. I've been researching the net for a while now and am stuck between choosing either the 1000D or the 450D.There exists a monetary difference of about $200 between the two with their respective bundled lens kits. I'm a bit fascinated by the 450D as its got an Integrated Cleaning System + Continuous shooting with a self timer and other features like 14-bit A/D conversion and 3-layer optical low-pass filter (LPF) that provide superior image performance.Would 450D be worth the extra 200 bucks for a beginner? I'm mostly worried about the sensor. Is dust a frequent problem or just needs occasional attention? Pls help..

Even the 1000D has the Integrated Cleaning System. The 450D has 9 AF points instead of 7 on 1000D. If you can spend the extra 200 bucks then definitely get the 450D.

Dust becomes problem only when you tend to changes frequently & that too in dusty environments.

thanks for the reply, i'm sure 450D is a better deal. But i'm just concerned whether it would be worth the extra money for a beginner? Technology keeps evolving constantly. Could it be a case that may be after 2-3 that the 450D would feel outdated? Whereas if i have a cheaper 1000D i would think of upgrading it. Would the body make much of a difference or it can sustain long enough?

Its definitely worth the extra bucks as you get a higher 12MP sensor alongwith a 3" screen, a bit fast burst mode & even more AF points. DSLR's don't get outdated too quickly. It all depends on the lens you use with them. The 1000D is not a bad camera & many folks still use it. If you learn to work around the drawbacks of your camera then you'll ought to produce good photographs. Go with 450D you won't regret.

My first DSLR was the 1000D and I loved it. I think it is a perfect DSLR for first timer in term of price, value and features. Nothing too fancy, just what you need to get you started. Personally I feel I 'outgrow' it rather quickly and after about a year I feel like I need a major upgrade. I never use the 450D so I can't comment on that.

I can highly receommend the 1000D and use the $200 difference to get yourself a nice lens to play with. If you need an upgrade I'm sure you will be looking at something beyond the 450D.

Good luck and have fun.
