Most likely you will love the 7D for both sports and weddings. I have Nikon D3, D300, Canon 5D Mk II and 5D. The D3 is my grab & shoot camera while I use the 5D Mk II for details.
Since you cannot buy both then you have to decide which features are most important to you. 7D has better AF & higher fps while 5D Mk II has higher FF resolution. Next, think about focal length and match the Canon lenses you lust for with the body (FF vs. APS-C). No point to lust for a 135mm f/2 L if it is too long for the 7D. For me, it is FF all the way. I just keep the D300 for odd jobs and vacations. |

yeah.. i'm thinking the 5Dmk II will be the way i go.. it's just it is going to cost me more, and if i hear something that makes me want the 7D more.. then i could well end up getting that and having some cash left over.
what do you mean about the 7D having better AF ?

![]() Beside the 1D series, the 7D has the best AF in Canon's DSLR. The 5D Mk II still uses the original 5D AF system and many of us still focus with the center fp. |

A few people I know who have them (Motor racing shooters) are very happy with them

I am having the same dilema although mine is because I want to upgrade my Canon 40d to something newer.
I tend to shoot more people (children portraits / wedding etc) and landscapes and scenery rather than sports so on another forum I go on I have been advised that the 5D Mark II will be more suitable for me. Now I just need to save up for one!

more AF points on the 7D... that said, I've had a MK2 for a year and have not had any issues with its 9 AF points... 7D is quicker (burst) and does 60fps video if you're up for slo-mo.. If I bought again now, I'd get a 7D to go with my 5DMk2
