Default Focus and Aperture.

Hey all, I'm a newly recruited newbie that is just starting to get the basics on photography theory. I have a question, does the aperture settings equals to focus settings? I know that apperture is the opening that regulates how much light gets in, and it can adjust the depht of field, so, by adjusting your aperture settings, you're focusing your shot, right?

You dont focus using the aperture: the aperture setting just dictates HOW MUCH is in focus, not WHAT. To set your focus you either use your AF system or you manually focus using the ring on the lens designed for focusing.

Focus is set by the lens: it moves sections within the lens to achieve focus.

The aperture does pretty much what you said regulates the amount of light entering the sensor through the opening. It will change the depth of field which is how much the point infront of and behind the focal point looks in focus.

Just pretty much noticed I typed what the guy above me did haha ... so yeah focus is the point which is usually the bit in the box when you half press your shutter.

Hope that helps good luck with learning keep it fun.
