Looks like you need to do a little bit of cropping, in my opinion..

On the first shot, maybe try to crop out some of the space underneath the feeder, so the subject takes up the majority of the photo.

In the second, maybe try cropping some of the grey sky out, to put the horizon line on the thirds line?

I dunno, just some ideas..
I really like the first shot, though. Way to capture that moment.

Thank you for your advice. I am trying to find a site that I can work with my photos that doesnt cost an arm and a leg, and so far havent found any that I like, but will work on that. I have done nothing to these photos so far.

I'm with Scott on the issue of cropping these. Should work nicely. As for the landscape, I'd also be tempted to play around a little with the colour saturation. I like the way how the water mirrors the greens of the trees, and there are some lovely colours in the rocks that you might like to boost just a skerrick. I believe The Gimp is a bit of picture retouching freeware that works on windows or mac, so you might want to give that a try.

Thank you. I tried to use gimp last night, but figuring it out was a pita. I would get something done on it, but couldnt seem to figure out all the details on usage. It also slowed my computer way down, not sure of the reasoning of that, but I uninstalled it and it was fine after.

I was attempting to crop and enhance some pictures, but it wouldnt respond to my commands.

The Gimp cam be a pig to learn (like Photoshop)*. If you want something free and easy for a starter application then you can't go far wrong with Picasa from Google. You will grow out of it, but its a great place to cut you post-processing teeth.

Picasa will also straighten up the landscape which is just a teeny bit on the slant at the moment. I would agree with the others about cropping the feeder ... but you will end up with a nearly square photo - may not be what you want.

*personal opinions - your mileage may vary.

Is there a fix for that as I saw what you are talking about.

Looking at the copy on photobucket I would say that the original of the landscape does have a fair amount of detail that can be pulled back. It is easy to make a selection of the sky and make some curves adjustment, on the copy I got to much posterization but cloud detail is there. Give it a shot.

Also, inverse the selection so that you have the land and sharpen it a bit, brings out all the detail. And do a curves adjustment here to.

This done you have a nice balanced image that requires no cropping. The cloud and mist will make it.

I have cropped because I cannot bring back the detail in the sky................
