Default tripod question

hi

i intend to buy a basic tripod, after suffering constant camera shake and blurrd shots on long night time exposures.

My question is , will it stop the camera shake icon appearing on my cam??

this icon appears even if I have the camera on a wall flat !

baffling !

Cam is a basic Canon powershot A560 and a Fuji S5700 (not so bad on the shake btw ! )

The shake warning is likely the result of the camera determining that the exposure will be "long", therefore it is warning you that if camera shake exists, the picture will be blurry. In reality, you will get the warning in any low light situation, regardless of the support under the camera. I doubt that it has a sensor to measure if shake is occuring.

The camera shake icon is an alert to warn you that the shutter speed is slow enough to affect the image. If it appears, you should take some measure to reduce camera shake.

You should also have the ability of turning the warning off.
