I took this picture of my cousin at the local pumpkin farm. I love the look on his face, his hands, his feet. the position of it all... not so sure about the composition. I can think of just as many reason why i like it both ways.
any opinions? ![]() or ![]() theres a couple more from that day here http://flickr.com/photos/justanotherview/ |

Well, chalk me up for liking the first one better. The background gives it some atmosphere to me.

I've shuffled this over the composition section. Share your shots is for when you don't want any comments beyond "nice shot", etc, but since we are getting into an interesting discussion on composition (prompted by the first post) it will be better here where it won't get buried so quickly by the volume of other posts.
I think that the first one is too wide - the boy ends up too small in the frame and the stall (?) and other details along the bottom are too truncated to add much value as background colour. However, the second one is too narrow (as well as having slightly less intense colours). I would probably aim somewhere between the two. Even without cloning out details, you can make the image a bit wider before the stall comes into the picture and you can also leave more space above the boys head. I think that would give more sense of the adventure of jumping into space, adding to the action of the picture. Wulf |
