Wood is always an interesting subject for B&W because it has great texture, all of the grains really pop out. The only problem I have is that the bottom third is just completely black. I don't feel like it adds anything to the picture. I would try to make it so its only a slight shadow. The top two thirds, however, looks great.

Thanks for your input. This door is in a narrow ally with the mid-morning sun. I think I'll shoot it again at hi noon so the sunlight fills the ally way.

I might try getting closer to it also. You'd get more detail on the wood and cut down on some of the empty space to the left and to the bottom of the frame.

I don't know what it is about this pic. but I really like it. It seems kind of sullen, wanting to remind people of a time gone by. Great shot!

I like it but I think this could have been even better without the the dark shadow at the bottom.

If you are able to get a second shot of it without the shadow, try recomposing it, I know you said its a narrow alley, but see if can get more of the door height wise to bring out the verticalness.
