Default Shooting in the afternoon

I am about to go out in a big garden to take some photos.
It`s 12.30 in the afternoon an d the weather outside is very sunny.
I will be taking landscape macros and family portraits.
Can anyone pls tell me what is the best set up for my camera,
I have a NIKON COOLPIX P5100 camera.

I prefer not to shoot middle of the day rather early morning or late afternoon as easier to work with the shadows etc

get them in the shade or make up some type of diffuser. a white sheet hung up to block out the sun works good.

use shade to your advantage, keep an eye out to avoid very brightly lit backgrounds, watch out for high contrast in the scene...and bracket for exposure.....

have fun....
