Default How to create ambience

Poet's Corner (by slforster)

I attempted to recreate the ambience of rustic serenity of this quiet nook I find perfect for reading, writing and just pondering the universe...

Have I achieved this?

I was also hoping to give it something of an antique, timeless quality with the sharp focal centre and soft focus edging. Any thoughts?

Works beautifully! If you took out the plastic tray of seedlings there'd be nothing to place this in any timeframe.

Please resize the image to 600 px at the longest side.

The over all feel looks pretty good but I feel it is a little too soft for my taste. Also there is a little dark area in the bottom right corner which is a little distracting. Another thing that you should think about is doing a curves adjustment to add more depth to the photo. Also have you tried this in sepia? Might give it a more aged look.

I think you have achieved your goal to a great extent, I loved the soft focus, it gives a timeless feeling. The few leaves below the wooden bench also adds to the mood. The only disharmony is the plastic tray of seedlings and the white cloth(?). It will be good to see the shot in sepia, the colour of antiquity. I would be tempted to leave a book somewhere in the shot. The moment I saw this photograph, it gave me a sense of eternity. Good work, keep it up!
