Default How do they do that?

I've seen pictures that people take that have an aged, 70's look. How do they achieve it? It looks like they messed with the saturation but that's as much as I know. I've attached some sample pictures of what I'm trying to do.

Default Try cross-processing!

Here's a tutorial I've gotten good use out of (even though I don't have Photoshop...I adapted it to the software I have)!

What post-processing program do you use? There's a vintage action that I got from Flickr (I'm sure I can find the link again) that does something similar if you use photoshop.

The first shot you attached has a texture applied. Take a picture of a rough wall or sidewalk, etc. Desaturate the texture image. Place it over the top of the image you want to post process with a layer blending mode set to screen or soft light, etc. (play around). You may even want to adjust the opacity.

Good question! I have been trying to figure out how to cross process in PS Elements.
Good luck figuring out how to get the effects you want,

from the looks of it, there seems to be a opacitized texture layer (if that makes any sense). desaturation is not exactly how i would attack this problem, but it is more of cutting and boosting selective colors - a breeze to do in lightroom, but the layers have to be done in photoshop or gimp, or corel (if you are into that).
