Subrataofkris Just remember reading this tip from a famous /experienced landscape photographer - as per him you should never cut your picture .

As Wulf said either you should either have your horizon above or below ( on any of the two horizontal lines if possible)

Having the horizon smack in the middle of the picture is like disecting it in half. its something that I believe in myself based on my experience ----- might help you in future

Never say never - sometimes putting a strong light straight across the middle of the image (either way) is precisely the right thing to to. Try lots of options. For example, you could lose the top half of the picture (and a little from the bottom). That would give you a very abstract image with the rake of the sea forming the top third (lower on the left than the right) and the enigmatic glow of the now hidden sun.

Get a couple of bits of card with a rectangle cut away from one corner and you can use them as a dynamic mask by holding them up to your screen and quickly evaluating a range of options (or, for instant effect, just use your hands).
