I'm going to be shooting some pictures for a friend of mine who owns an upscale restaurant. He will be using the pictures for advertising purposes...billboards, menu's, website, etc.
Here is the gear I will be working with... Camera Nikon D7000 Lens 70-200mm f/2.8 24-70mm f/2.8 50mm f/1.8 Lighting 2 SB-600 flashes Umbrella and Stand 28" Softbox & Stand Cactus Wireless Flash Triggers They want nice bright looking pictures. Anyone have any tips on how to set up the shots? |

How big will the dishes be? A macro lens is always a good idea for food; renting one is a great option.

Bright is a function of the color of the food and the exposure. Since food doesn't really move much (my food doesn't, anyway), exposure is just a matter of setting up your exposure triangle correctly.
And according to the person who wrote the book on food photography, a macro lens is seldom necessary. Frankly, her book would probably be a great place to start.
