What is the best way to keep the sea horizon level?

Even with a level on my tripod, I often have to go back and adjust the horizon in PP. In Paint Shop Pro, I just put a grid on the image and use the Straighten tool. I'm sure they have something like that in GIMP/PS/Elements.

Yeah, I get it close in my viewfinder and then fix it on the computer.
If you're not using Photoshop or Lightroom, a good free tool would be Picasa, which is a free download from Google. It's got some good basic settings, including a leveler. It would also fix your contrast levels and give you some good options for doing a black-and-white.
