Go buy the 50mm f1.8. then you will get some crazy DoF! Best of all it is $100-$130.

I completely agree!! I just got into DSLR's and recently bought the 50mm 1.8 based on reviews and the unbeatable price. It hasn't come off my camera since buying it. It will take a little more leg work since it is a prime lens but it is worth it. How can you go wrong for around $100?

Agreed. Bought it yesterday and have been loving it. Best bang for your buck for sure.

Default 50mm lens

I just got my 50mm lens in the mail 2 days ago and I LOVE it! Definitely if you want shallow DOF, this is the lens to get!

Go here SMD.edu and play with the interactive tutorials. If you don't understand it after this sell your camera and take up gardening.

Hi guys,

Thank you all very much! I was also suffering the same problem of shallow DOF and still trying to get it correctly. However, now I got the clear idea and will try it out and post an image if I could get one!
