Default how to capture love

Hello everyone: I have been taking photos for 1 1/2 years. Recently a friend asked me to take a picture of her and her partner...a picture that captures or represents love. Any ideas????

This is my first request and I am afraid I may disappoint them!

I think using poses that are typically found in engagement and wedding photography would fit this bill.

In this kind of shots I think the background must be just as romantic as the couple (but it can't steal the attention of the couple)... Just like Iputman said the "tricks" used in weddings would do the trick.

This might be vague but I think the best thing to do is to be natural. If the pictures are too "posed" then it won't come off as believable. I love pictures of couples that are almost candid. If the love is really there, it'll show in the pictures.

I know the assignment is kind of vague. I guess I better start looking at wedding photography to get some ideas. Thanks everyone!

I love candid shotss...do a lot of them smiling, laughing and looking @ each other. Intertwined nudes definitely portray "love" but I don't know if they'd be comfortable with that.

In photographing couples and looking at photographs of couples, the best pictures aren't ones with a particular pose. Instead, it's whether or not you can capture that MOMENT of adoration between the two. Just have them interact with each other...if they get lost in the moment and forget you're there, you have succeeded. You aren't necessarily looking for a shot where they're looking at the camera--in fact, some of the best ones are when they are completely oblivious to you being there.

These were a few one-year anniversary shots I did for my roommate:
delight.

I think a picture of them looking into each others eyes. A person's eyes can say so much more sometimes than just posing alone.

Good luck.

Try telling them a very vague pose that you would like... then start snapping away as they are trying to figure out what you meant. Ex: tell them you want to take a picture or two of them with/on a bench... but don't tell them anything else, let them try to figure out the best way to pose... take pictures of them discussing what they want to do. Try and be casual about it so they don't panic when you start taking pictures, let them know you are just checking exposure or white balance or something. Candid shots can be pure gold!!
Make sure you have some set poses too so that you are sure you get some that are set up well... don't rely only on candid.
Good Luck. Make sure to share a few of your favs... if the couple allows you to.
