More details would help, please. Water, as in a pond or lake? Or as in a glass or kitchen sink? What is the "something"? What lens do you have?

Well, you'd generally want the bottom of the water to be dark. If it is too light, you can't really see the reflection.

Get lower, closer to the level of the water if the sun is lower in the sky and vice versa if the sun is not. The reflection has a lot to do with the angle that the light hits the subject and the water.

Default need an advice..

hello all,

Is there a diffrerence in output between 18-105 range lens and 70-300mm lens?

Scenario: taking a portrait of my wife, same range for both the lenses, with a white light house in the background and water on the side.

Basically i m debating whether to buy 70-300mm Nikkor lens or not. Because I can take photos within the range of 18-105mm lens. Would buy if 70-300mm lenses can give me better output for the similar range as photos can be sharper.

I shoot portraits and nature.

thanks all for replying in advance... shall be uploading few pics that I took pretty soon.

Reflection is the change in direction of a wavefront at an interface between two different media so that the wavefront returns into the medium from which it originated. Common examples include the reflection of light, sound and water waves. The law of reflection says that for specular reflection the angle at which the wave is incident on the surface equals the angle at which it is reflected. Mirrors exhibit specular reflection.

In acoustics, reflection causes echoes and is used in sonar. In geology, it is important in the study of seismic waves. Reflection is observed with surface waves in bodies of water. Reflection is observed with many types of electromagnetic wave, besides visible light. Reflection of VHF and higher frequencies is important for radio transmission and for radar. Even hard X-rays and gamma rays can be reflected at shallow angles with special "grazing" mirrors.
