Hey Everyone,

I did a blog post recently with some great composition guidelines and tips. I think its a good read for those interested in framing captivating compositions in almost any field. Tell me what you think. I am also interested to hear what other basic compositional tips you guys use and I missed.

I think you covered the basics well. The only other thing I can think of is to not always compose your images from eye level. Kneel, squat, get down on the ground or move to an elevated position to get a different perspective on your subject. I even read about one guy who attaches his camera to a balloon to get an aerial perspective. I don't know how he triggers the shutter, though!

Yea, thats a good thing to add. I said it relatively vaguely somewhere, but really perspective means a lot to adding interest to a photograph. For instance, I attach my camera to my tripod quite often, and hoist it in different ways. Like way above everyone, or sticking it out of a train or bridge, to make it look like your in a helicopter along side it. On another note, I gotta see this balloon guy. Lets just hope the balloon doesn't pop or break and drop is thousand dollar equipment .Thanks by the way.

I'm not sure if this is the guy I saw online earlier, but I found this guy who uses a kite to suspend his camera for some unique shots:

Here's a close up of his rig. I was surprised he is using a P&S. Maybe a DSLR is too heavy:

What lovely photos! I'm still wishing I could take photos like those. My flickr photos are very mediocre in comparison but I look at yours for inspiration!

Thanks!
