Default Norweigian Church, Cardiff Bay

Hello all,

I'm interested in learning more about composing images in other ways than simply straight and head on, if you know what I mean? I tried it on this image:

Norweigian Church

I'd like to ask what you think of the wonky composition. Do you think it works or not? If not, why not? What can I, or anyone, do to improve shooting this way.

Many thanks in advance,
Matthew

Your photo has nice geometrical shapes to it. When I shoot certain images such as you have and it doesn't really fit into some conventional box, I like to playfully step outside of the box and flow down a path of abstract form. Here is what I did with your photo. I did it with Picasa2, it was fun and I only did this to share what I do with some of my photos before tossing them. Sometimes I create a form that I simply like. Then I keep it.

I was going to say that to get the off-beat image it's often a good idea to 'take out' of the picture the most interesting elements and focus on them in post; exactly as Geotography has done!!
