Default Urban lotus


I took this at a small local creek that rarely has much water in it. We have had rain this year which improves the place but it is still pretty degraded. I wonder how I could improve the compostion bearing in mind that it was difficult to get a shot without excessive clutter and weed? I haven't cropped this one & I realise I haven't complied with the 'rule of thirds' but think there is a better perspective in there somewhere??

Sometimes less is more. In this photo there are far too many lily pads. I think it would really emphasise the flower if you applied a portarit crop to it nad perhaps boost the stauration of flower

I agree that the lily pads clutter the image a bit too much, but instead of cropping for a vertical image, cropping for horizontal gives it a nice, asymmetrical balance of sorts:
