Sometimes we see the bones of a great image and have to wait for the remaining pieces to fall into place. I think this is just situation, the bones are here, but you need the right light and the right angle to flesh it out. I would suggest two things along this line; first, I would go very early in the morning when the light is angular and the water is perfectly still, and I would take a stepladder and some waders. Chances are the best shot here is not going to be at eye level. The shot you want may be right down at water level, or a bit higher off the ground.

Yeah, it is kind of like cooking. One may have all the right ingredients, but that doesn't necessarily mean the meal will be worth eating.
It is all about angles and lighting isn't it. When it all comes together, there is no mistaking it. Not sure I am ready to walk off into that water. I think even alligators have second thoughts about that place. lol |

Definitely a good dawn or sunset photo in the making here somewhere. I would see if I could get around and get to a low angle to shoot the boats against the sky (i.e. shooting down the length of the inlet) - I don't think you'd lose much by silhouetting them somewhat. If that angle also takes in the sunrise/set, you're laughing.

Not laughing at all. I'm going to have to go back to this location and take a harder look at access. Almost need a boat to get out into that marsh to get different angles.
Funny thing about these boats. The variety of weathered and neglected colors of the boat caught my attention and kind of told a story of "once upon a time" dreams that fell by the wayside. But, I could also easily picture these boats in a moody high contrast B&W treatment with the right lighting and shadows. We will see..... we will see..... |
