My gut reaction is that it is a good composition. Besides the angles and subject you have a good tonal range that isn't easy to capture. As far as the eye travel in your frame, I like it. I tend to keep focused on the little dog even though there is a hot spot in the window above him. The window sill cradles the eye, the dark tones on the right keep the focus on the dog, the hotspot is a little added spice to the whole photo. The eye tends to follow contours and light and here your subject is best framed at this oblique angle.

Nice buttery "bokeh" too!

Definitely the leaning doggy is much more interesting.
The straight dog is just there. Its not bad, but its not very interesting. With the leaning, theres a sence of depth, diagonal lines draw you to the dog, which is the subject.
Definitely a very good eye!

Landon, thank you for taking the time to post your thoughtful comments (especially because they're positive ).

I especially like your term, "buttery bokeh" and it keeps coming to mind. I don't think I'll forget it anytime soon. buttery bokeh ... Thanks again!

I vote for the "leaning doggy" too...this is a more dynamic composition; the "straight doggy" looks great but is plain when compared with this one.

Great colors, focus and lines - I would say this is a a very interesing and pleasing composition.

The thing for me about the leaning shot is that the doggy looks like a real miniature dog looking up a hill. This is by far the better photo because it has many intresting qualities.

Hi Debbi -really a beautiful shot.

Composition wise I think the Dog is a bit too high and the dog appears cramped up there. May be if you could place the dog a bit lower down it might help.

I like your Doggy in the Window shot better

http://www.flickr.com/photos/daybeezho/2267554298

Mainly because it comes close to rule of thrird - having said that the angle of shot used by you in the main shot (Leaning Doggy in the Window) is awesome - maybe you can combine the two.

Thats just my point of view - am sure others can give you a better insight and as I can see you have got some wonderful tips already.

Cheers
