eye dazzling focus??

I’m not sure if this is where I should be posting this so if I’m in the wrong spot I'm sorry.

Okay so I have a slightly stupidish question. I've seen some amazing portraits, and the eyes of the subject are always in dazzling focus. I’ve tried and tried but no matter what I do I can’t get that focus!! I get something sort of close but I can never quite hit it on the nose. So here is my question…

What can I do to get this eye dazzling focus???

I think that part of the bedazzlement is selecting the eyes and sharpening them, sometimes running a sharpening filter on them more than once. Having catchlights in them helps. This is often overdone, IMO. Once the newness of looking at glossy glassy wet eyes wears off, it can look a little freakish. My guess is that this trend will be laughed at in a few years.

Try using just the center focus point on your camera it's typically the most accurate. Also proper lighting and aperture selection are needed. These images are also usually heavily processed and sharpened. What lens are you using do you have some sample images?
