My cousin who is an artist wants me to take some photo's of him while he is working on some of his paintings.
I thought this would be a great way to practice using my new sb600 off camera. I will be using it with my D60 (I have it working off camera with cactus triggers). I have a light stand and a shoot through umbrella that I have basically no experience using as of yet. He does a lot of "splatter" type stuff so I'd like to try and capture some of that while he's doing it. His studio is set up in his garage so I'd like to try and give the shots that "grunge" or "dark" kind of look to them if that makes any sense. What's the best way to try something like that? Just wondering if anyone can offer some tips on the best setup to use...camera settings to start with or anything like that. I know it's kind of hard to tell me what settings are going to work or won't work...I'm just looking for a starting point really. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
