I submitted my design and I've already "won"!

Seems they have a design very similar to mine almost ready. They are making me part of the test team for the product. I'll be getting a complete outfit (vest/pouches etc) as part of the field testing process!

AND, they allowed my submission to be part of the contest since their vest system hasn't been announced yet.

I don't know about "a few simple clicks"...I've been developing this idea for quite some time..I just had to tailor it to their product line.

But yeah, I'm pleased....

That's Great sk66 that you get to have your dream bag made and you get to do the testing etc. It must be true that "Great minds think alike" .I'm off to look at your bag now. Congrats!!!


I submitted my design. It's "Ultimate Combo Bag" by me patriciam.
I desperately need a bag that can work as my camera bag and my purse. I'm horrible at drawing so you should all get a good chuckle , but my idea is great and should win first prize. My mom always taught me to aim for the highest prize so why not.

Well, I was notified I won a camera strap from Kata as well, and my design will probably make it to the second phase. The contest closes Monday and the 250 most popular designs will go on for judging....my vest design is #105 right now (hope I didn't just jinx it).

Very pleased, especially since it was a "dream bag design contest" and I submitted a dream vest design. Only one other vest design was submitted and it's off the radar now.

Haven't heard anything back on the field testing... Hope they aren't letting that drop. Production/prototyping can take a very long time so I'm being patient....but it's HARD! I would be more than happy with just that.

I got this email from KATA last night!


In view of public demand the competition is extended till March 15th!

Kata are excited to report that the response to the Dream Bag Challenge has been so great that we have agreed to extend the competition by two weeks as per the request of our participants who wish to collect more ratings.

At Kata we design products first and foremost for the photographers/videographers and market feedback and constant contact with our users is a key factor in our R&D process.

After years of research and development we all realize that it is impossible to meet all the requirements of all the photographers in the world, for the simple reason that each photographer is unique and has different needs.

So our philosophy is: 'there is no such thing as the perfect bag, therefore it is our job to make bags for different users and uses!'

With the Dream Bag Challenge we took this philosophy one step further and invited anyone who has a great idea to design their personal dream bag and enter it into our competition.

We have already received close to 900 fantastic ideas and every one of the participants in the Dream Bag Challenge has won a free web login which allows special direct feedback access via our site to our design team.

For us the contact with you is the most important and valued outcome of this promotion and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the participants for sharing their great ideas with us and for all the viewers for taking part and voting for their favorite designs.

In our next news Letter we look forward to sharing with you the winning designs, and till then we urge you to go and rate your favorite ideas, there are still 15 days for you to make a difference!
